Porta Potty Rental Questions, Answered

73 plain answers to the questions people ask before they book a porta potty in Detroit: price, delivery, cleaning, sizing, permits and more.

Porta potty rental questions by topic

These porta potty rental questions come from real Detroit renters before they book. They are grouped by topic: prices, delivery, pickup, cleaning, unit choice, sizing, job sites, events, placement, payment, damage, winter and emergencies. Each answer starts with the direct answer, then the details.

Prices and fees

How much does a porta potty rental cost in Detroit?

A standard unit starts at $165 for a weekend event with delivery and pickup in Zone 1, or $155 per 28-day cycle on a job site plus $75 delivery and pickup once. See the price guide.

Can you give me a price without my address?

Yes. Give us your ZIP code and we can quote the full total. The street address is only needed to schedule delivery.

Is delivery and pickup included?

For event rentals in Zone 1, yes. For monthly rentals, delivery and pickup is a one-time $75 charge. Zones 2 and 3 add $40 or $85 per trip.

Is the quote plus tax?

Michigan sales tax of 6% is added and shown as its own line. Tax-exempt groups pay no tax with a certificate.

Do you add a fuel surcharge or credit card fee?

No. The quote lists the unit, days, delivery, any extras and tax. Nothing else is added at checkout.

Do you charge by the hour or by the day?

No. Events are a flat rate for the drop-off-to-pickup window. Job sites are billed per 28-day cycle.

Why does a 3-hour party cost the same as a weekend?

The truck trip, cleaning and waste disposal cost the same either way. That is why event pricing is flat.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes: $15 off each unit when you book 4 or more units for one event, a lower rate after 3 monthly cycles, and contractor accounts with net terms.

Do you price match?

Send us the other written quote. If it is all-in for the same unit and dates, we will tell you honestly whether we can beat it.

Will the price go up after I book?

No. The price on your confirmed quote is the price you pay for that rental period.

Delivery and timing

How far ahead should I book a porta potty?

Two to three days is usually enough. For holiday weekends, graduation season and restroom trailers, book 2 to 4 weeks ahead.

Can I get a porta potty today?

Yes. Call (313) 476-6006 by noon, Monday through Saturday. A $75 same-day fee applies per order.

Do you deliver on weekends?

We deliver Monday through Saturday. Sunday events get a Saturday drop and a Monday pickup.

What time will the driver arrive?

You get a delivery window, and the driver calls about 30 minutes ahead. Routes change with traffic, so exact times cannot be promised.

Do I need to be home for delivery?

No. Mark the spot, unlock the gate and leave notes. The driver texts a photo when the unit is placed.

Can you deliver the morning of my event?

We prefer the day before so the unit is ready when guests arrive. Weekday morning drops are possible, but we cannot promise an exact hour.

Can I reschedule my delivery?

Yes. Call at least 24 hours before delivery and we move it at no charge.

What if the delivery truck breaks down?

We send another truck the same day when possible and call you right away if the delivery has to move.

Pickup and rental length

When do you pick up after an event?

The next business day. A Saturday event is picked up Monday.

Do you pick up a monthly rental automatically?

No. Monthly rentals stay until you call or text for pickup, so you never lose the unit mid-job.

Do I need to be there for pickup?

No. Just leave the gate unlocked and the path clear.

Can I keep the unit longer than planned?

Yes. Event rentals can switch to a monthly rental; monthly rentals continue cycle by cycle.

Can I return it early?

Yes. After the first 28-day cycle, unused weeks in the final cycle are credited back.

Cleaning and service

How often is a porta potty cleaned?

Monthly rentals are serviced every 7 days. Busy sites can book twice-weekly service.

What happens during a service visit?

The tech pumps the waste tank, scrubs the seat, urinal, walls and floor, sanitizes touch points, adds fresh deodorizer and restocks paper and sanitizer.

Do event rentals include cleaning?

Event units arrive washed and stocked. Multi-day events can add a mid-event service for $45 per unit.

Can I order an extra cleaning?

Yes. Call before noon for a same-day or next-day extra service, $45 per unit.

Do you pump out porta potties or holding tanks I own?

Yes, for customer-owned units and trailer holding tanks on a scheduled basis. Call for a quote.

What if my unit was not serviced?

Call us. We send a truck the same or next business day and credit the missed visit.

Choosing a unit

What porta potty units do you rent?

Standard units, flushing units with sinks, wheelchair-accessible units, handwashing stations and restroom trailers.

What is inside a standard porta potty?

A seat, a urinal, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, a coat hook, a roof vent and an inside lock.

What is the difference between an event unit and a construction unit?

Event units are kept for events, so the shells stay cleaner and newer looking. Construction units are built for daily heavy use and weekly service.

Is there something nicer than a standard porta potty but cheaper than a trailer?

Yes: the flushing unit with a foot-pump sink, mirror, soap and towels.

What is the difference between a handicap unit and an ADA unit?

People use both names for the same wheelchair-accessible unit: ground-level floor, wide door, grab bars and space to turn a wheelchair.

Can I lock the porta potty?

Yes. Every unit has a hasp for a padlock.

Do you sell porta potties?

No. We only rent, deliver and service units.

Can I pick up the porta potty myself?

No. Units are delivered and placed by our trucks for safety and sanitation.

Sizing

How many porta potties do I need?

About 1 per 50 guests for up to 4 hours. Use the calculator for longer events or alcohol.

How many for a wedding with a bar?

A 150-guest, 6-hour wedding with a bar needs 6 units or a 3–4 stall restroom trailer.

How many for a construction crew?

One unit for up to 20 workers, 2 for 21–40, then 1 more per 40 workers, under Michigan rule R 408.40129.

How many people does one restroom trailer serve?

A 2-stall trailer serves about 100–150 guests at an evening event; a 3–4 stall trailer about 150–250.

Construction and contractors

How is a job site porta potty billed?

Every 28 days, including 4 weekly services, with delivery and pickup billed once.

Is there a minimum rental for job sites?

Yes, one 28-day cycle.

Do you offer contractor accounts?

Yes. Contractors can get net terms and one invoice per site after the first order.

Can I leave the end date open?

Yes. Most job site rentals are open-ended.

Does my kitchen or bathroom remodel need a porta potty?

Many contractors require one so crews do not use your home. It is a monthly rental.

Events, weddings and parties

Can I rent a porta potty for one day?

Yes. The flat event rate covers your event day plus drop-off and pickup days.

What is the best restroom option for a wedding?

Flushing units with sinks for most backyard weddings; a restroom trailer for 100+ guests or formal evening receptions.

Can a porta potty go in a public park?

Yes, when the park or city has approved your event. Bring us the approved site map.

Can I book months ahead?

Yes, and the price on your confirmed quote is locked.

Can you hold a quote while I check with my family or board?

Yes. Quotes are held for 7 days; the date is only reserved once booked.

Placement and access

Where can the porta potty go?

On level grass, gravel or pavement within 25 feet of where the truck can park.

Can it go in my backyard through a gate?

Yes, if the gate is at least 48 inches wide and the path is level with no steps.

Will someone inspect the site first?

Usually not needed. Text us a photo of the spot and the path; we confirm before delivery.

Do I need a permit?

Not on private property in most cases. See the Detroit permit guide.

Can the unit go on the street?

Only with city approval. We look for a private spot first.

Who do neighbors call about a unit?

Every unit carries our phone number. Neighbors can call us directly.

Payment, contracts and cancellation

Do I pay a deposit?

Event rentals are paid in full at booking. Monthly rentals pay the first cycle at booking.

Can I pay cash or pay the driver?

No. Drivers do not handle payment. Pay by card on the phone or through a secure pay link.

Which cards do you take?

Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.

How do I sign the rental agreement?

We text a short agreement with a pay link. Tap to sign and pay on your phone; it takes about a minute.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancel 24 hours or more before delivery for a full refund. Inside 24 hours a $50 fee applies. Full rental terms.

Can I add a unit after booking?

Yes, up to the day before delivery, subject to stock.

I did not get my quote. What now?

Check your spam folder, then call (313) 476-6006. We resend by text.

Damage and liability

Am I responsible if the unit is damaged?

Yes, for vandalism, fire, vehicle damage or tip-overs caused by people. Normal wear is on us.

What if the porta potty tips over?

Call right away. We clean up and reset the unit. Tip-overs from vandalism or vehicles are $150; wind-staking is free on request.

Will the truck damage my lawn or driveway?

We park on the street or driveway and roll units in by dolly. Tell us about septic tanks or sprinklers before delivery.

Winter and weather

Do porta potties freeze in Detroit winters?

Not with winter service. From November to March we add brine to the tank so it stays liquid below freezing.

Do you deliver in snow?

Yes. Keep a shoveled path to the unit and the driveway clear for the truck.

Do you have heated porta potties?

Restroom trailers have heat. Standard units are not heated.

Emergencies

My porta potty company did not show up. Can you help today?

Yes. Call by noon Monday through Saturday for same-day delivery.

Can you provide restroom trailers for an emergency shelter?

Yes. Call and we check which trailers and handwashing stations can roll that day.

My septic failed. Can I get a unit quickly?

Yes. Septic and sewer emergencies go to the front of the route.
